Workers and local people had spotted Ransome on the streets and reported that he was in quite a bad state. His hand was grossly affected and he showed signs of severe mental illness.
When Ransome arrived at Amaudo the doctor pulled out bits of filthy rubber and mental from his hand, it soon recovered although the movement was restricted. With medication he regained his mental health astonishingly fast. Workers tried to trace his family and found his mother who also had mental health problems.
Amaudo discovered that Ransome used to work in a garage spray painting cars. Luckily Ransome’s former boss was very supportive and when he was discharged gave him his job back at the garage. Ransome has visited Amaudo a few times to thank workers for their support and treatment. He visits his local Community Psychiatric nurse regularly to receive his medication and he is still very well.
